What does each position in football do?Answered By Hadyn Falk, Editor Offensive line has the purpose of defending the quarterback or the running back. Another thing is that offensive line has the ability to block or catch the pass. Running backs and fullbacks is the major hurrying unit. The wide receiver is the one who will catch the ball. He must be tall and quick. The defensive positions are the following; the defensive ends, they are the outer part of the defensive area. Line backers are the most important line up of the defense. They are the quick hard hitters. Cornerbacks are the in charge of covering the wide receivers. Safeties are located at the last line up of defense; they must guard and defend the corner backs.
